Pre-Schools and Day Care: Pre-schools located within the town of Greenwich number 30+. These facilities are operated by either the Greenwich public school district, any number of the full curricula private schools or by independent operators.

The Public Schools: The Greenwich Public School District has nearly 9,100 students annually across the eleven-elementary, three-middle schools and the Greenwich High.

The Private Schools: Greenwich has eight private schools within its borders offering differing formats. Most schools provide a setting for pre-school children through grade twelve. Accreditation varies depending upon the individual school.



The State of Connecticut has 149 CT public school districts and 17 regional districts serving some nearly 1,300 schools. The overall student population numbers nearly 600,000 enrolled in some 636 elementary schools, 278 middle and 181 high schools. Within commuting distance of Greenwich - or on the commuting periphery - there are nearly 200 campuses representing public and private colleges and universities extending across Connecticut and to the New York metropolitan area and Westchester County in New York.


Throughout the western Connecticut region there are a number of continuing education venues that offer enrichment classes, seminars and/or one-day tours students with interests in such subjects as business and careers, computers, languages, gardening, dance, recreation, humanities, photography, health and fitness, personal development and more.

In greenwich, Greenwich Adult and Continuing Education, a non-profit organization, annually enrolls students from across from the region in some 250 non-credit classes given at locations in Greenwich. The semesters for this coursework begins each year starting either in January or September.
